abstract = "Sensores LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) produzem dados de
dados com caracter{\'{\i}}sticas semelhantes).
floresta.
distribui{\c{c}}{\~a}o de valores n{\~a}o {\'e}
poss{\'{\i}}vel indicar nenhum tipo de agrupamento. A partir
ABSTRACT: LiDAR (Light Detection and
Ranging) sensors produce high-resolution data collected along the
vertical structure of the forests. In the Brazilian Amazon biomass
would be between 150 and 400 ton.ha-1, but little is known about
the vertical structure of the forest. Many of the research and
data analysis processes are based on the idea of stratification
(grouping of regions, populations or other data with
characteristics similar). In a gigantic biome and little explored
as the Amazon, one of the difficulties is precisely to find
comprehensive data to stratify the forest emtermos of its vertical
structure. The present work seeks to propose a form of Amazon
stratification based only on LiDAR data collected throughout the
biome. For this, LiDAR metrics were identified that better
correlate with the vertical structure of the forest, taking
advantage of the potential of this sensor in describing it and the
important correlation of this structure with other characteristics
of the forest. When testing this hypothesis with the Fuzzy C-Means
clustering algorithm with different parameters, no indication of
significant clustering was found. Likewise, visually analyzing the
distribution of values its not possible to indicate any type of
grouping. After that, an attempt was made to find an indication of
another way to reach this stratification. The skewness metric,
obtained from the LiDAR metrics, was shown to be promising for
this goal to be achieved.",
